Q1. What is SPIRU-TEIN?

SPIRU-TEIN is a high energy and high nutrition shake, made of superior quality plant-based protein, together with the added benefits of spirulina, vitamins, minerals, diet aids, enzymes, and fiber. The name of SPIRU-TEIN comes from SPIRU-lina and proTEIN.

Q2. Is SPIRU-TEIN locally manufactured/packed?

No, it is not. SPIRU-TEIN is fully manufactured, packed and imported from USA.

Q3. How long can a tin of SPIRU-TEIN last for daily consumption?

A tin of SPIRU-TEIN can last for 2 weeks (1 scoop/ day).

Q4. What are the primary types of protein in SPIRU-TEIN?

SPIRU-TEIN contains proprietary non-GMO, patent-pending Tri-Part Protein blend which features rice protein, pea protein and both non-fermented and fermented soy protein.

Q5. Why uses 3 types of protein, instead of one single protein?

Plant-based proteins are commonly known as ‘incomplete protein’ because they do not contain the right proportions of the essential amino acids our body can't synthesize on its own. That is why we should eat a variety of protein sources in order to obtain a complete protein for optimal health.

Q6. SPIRU-TEIN contains soy protein. Does it affect men’s health as soy protein contains estrogen-like properties?

SPIRU-TEIN does not affect men’s health because it is not fully made of soy protein. It only contains 1/3 of soy protein, in which 50% of it is fermented soy protein. The fermentation process removes phytoestrogen and some other non-beneficial compounds that are believed to affect men’s health. Moreover, the recommended serving sizes and moderation of intake should not cause any changes to men’s health.

Q7. Is SPIRU-TEIN halal?

SPIRU-TEIN is not halal certified. The USA supplier, Nature’s Plus, did not apply for Halal Certification because all ingredients are planted based and there is no such need in USA. Nature’s Plus has also been exporting SPIRU-TEIN to Dubai and many Muslim countries without problem.

Q8. Can SPIRU-TEIN be used as nutritional drink for elderly/mature adults?

Yes, it can. SPIRU-TEIN is a source of complete and balanced nutrition for supplemental use with or between meals. SPIRU-TEIN is perfect for active, mature adults whose schedules do not always allow for the optimal balanced diet with the infused bee pollen and spirulina as energy nutrients.

Q9. So, how about for children?

Children can take SPIRU-TEIN as nutritional drink as well. SPIRU-TEIN does not only provide vitamins and minerals their growing bodies need, it is also delicious, creamy and rich in all-natural flavours that children always demand for.

Q10. How young can a child starts taking SPIRU-TEIN?

Children of age 1 – 3 are not recommended to take SPIRU-TEIN because consuming too much protein can potentially cause dehydration and kidney problems to the child. Hence, children can safely start taking protein at age 4.

Q19. What types of sweetener used in Spiru-tein?

Fructose, oligofructose, fructo-oligosaccharides (FOS) and maltodextrin are the types of sweetener used in Spiru-tein. Spiru-tein does not contain high-fructose corn syrup which is ‘bad sugar’. In fact, fructo-oligosaccharides (FOS) are healthier alternative of sweetener.

Q20. Since FOS is a healthier sweetener, why is it not used solely as sweetener in Spiru-tein?

Although FOS is a healthier sweetener, it cannot be used solely as sweetener because it does have side effects if taken more than 30 grams. They can cause intestinal gas (flatulence), intestinal noises, bloating, stomachcramps, and diarrhea. These effects are usually mild if the dose is less than 10 grams per day.
